Tim Harris is qualified in intensive care medicine, emergency and pre-hospital medicine in Australia and the UK. He works in these specialties at the Royal London and Newham University Hospitals and London HEMS. He is academic lead for the London School of Emergency Medicine. He is Professor of Emergency Medicine at Barts Health NHS Trust and QMUL, London, UK.

Martin was appointed consultant in acute and general medicine in Surrey and Sussex Healthcare Trust in November 2015. He is responsible for managing acutely unwell patients admitted to hospital in the emergency department and acute medical unit (AMU). He is currently clinical lead of acute medicine.
He graduated from Dresden University, Germany in 2001. He moved to the UK in 2003, after completion of his MD in stroke research. He subsequently underwent training in acute medicine and received his higher specialist training in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery in October 2015.
His special interests are the assessment of acutely unwell patients with Point of Care Ultrasound, the interface between emergency, acute and intensive care medicine, sepsis diagnosis and treatment and medical education. He has taught ultrasound widely throughout the UK.

Michael completed medical school in Melbourne in 2003, spent several years working in Australia and then moved to the UK in 2010 to complete a Masters in Viola performance. Michael completed EM training in South London and has been an Emergency Medicine Consultant at St Thomas’ Hospital since 2019.
Michael is passionate about point-of-care ultrasound which has been transformative to him as a diagnostician. He has a Post-graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound from Teesside University and has published several articles on PoCUS topics.
Michael is also passionate about environmental sustainability and believes that healthcare professionals have a crucial role to play in avoiding catastrophic climate breakdown.

Alastair is a cardiac intensivist and lead for cardiogenic shock at Barts Heart Centre with a clinical and research interest in Cardiogenic Shock.
He leads the UK Working Group on Cardiogenic Shock and leads the Networks Group of the Cardiac Safety Research Consortium Cardiogenic Shock Collaborative.
He also works part time at Berlin Heart / Charite as a clinical scientist in cardiac critical care.

If joining from your own computer
If you are connecting from your own device then it is likely that you will be able to join via the Webex application.
If joining from a trust/institution computer
However, if you are using a computer that is owned and restricted by your trust, then you may find it easier to join via your web browser. Please see the second video for guidance on this process.
When you connect to a course you should see some introductory slides and hear music.
If you cannot hear any music please check you are connected to the audio.
At the bottom of the webex meeting you may see a button that says “Connect to audio”.
Click this and then select “Use computer for audio” in the pop-up box.
If you have connected by a browser you may need to give your browser access to your microphone in order to connect to the audio.
