About the course
Designed for radiologists and colorectal surgeons, this course aims to enhance the accuracy, consistency, and clinical relevance of colorectal cancer imaging. The programme is designed to strengthen collaboration within the colorectal MDT, improve communication between imaging and surgical specialities, and support evidence-based decision-making in patient management.
The course will align contemporary imaging practice with UK standards, national guidelines, and established colorectal cancer pathways, while providing participants with an up-to-date review of advanced imaging techniques, structured reporting, emerging technologies, and evolving applications of artificial intelligence in colorectal oncology imaging.
Lectures, discussions and Q&As will enhance the future level of multidisciplinary collaboration between radiologists and colorectal surgeons through integrated case-based learning and discussion.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- understand current UK colorectal cancer imaging pathways, national guidelines, and the role of imaging within MDT.
- apply appropriate imaging modality, techniques and protocols for the diagnosis, staging, treatment assessment, and surveillance of colorectal cancer.
- systematically interpret rectal MRI and identify imaging features of locally advanced disease relevant to surgical planning and multidisciplinary management.
- apply structured reporting principles to improve communication and decision-making within the colorectal MDT.
- develop an understanding of MRI assessment of tumour response after neoadjuvant therapy, including mrTRG, and improve their ability to stage colorectal cancer and detect metastatic disease.
- recognise postoperative appearances, complications, and recurrence after colorectal cancer surgery, including imaging findings following exenteration and related to stomas.

Access to cases for our imaging events
Our imaging courses are very much an interactive experience. Presentations are kept to the minimum and then you'll be into the fully featured cloud based DICOM viewer, looking at cases, feeding back your findings using our interactive tools. You'll get immediate feedback and learning points from our expert faculty member.
- Attendance of the course includes access to the database of cases associated to this event on our server at PostDICOM.
- Full access to each case with a full toolset to open, view and manipulate each case alongside the faculty but on your own screen!
- You will maintain your access to the resource throughout your on-demand service period too.
Sample the DICOM viewer here. A window will load below the buttons (best demonstrated on a computer rather than mobile device)
