Practical and Comprehensive Update for the General Anaesthetist
The intensive two-day conference for busy, hands-on Consultant and
Career Grade Anaesthetists, on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 January 2007,
at the Radisson Edwardian Grafton Hotel, 130 Tottenham Court Road, London, W1
 
Running for the second time, the Practical and Comprehensive Update for the General Anaesthetist proved to be a successful course. Despite of the bad weather on the first day, and some of trains from the north delayed for hours, this course was attended by 70 delegates who manage to make their way down to London.

What three things did you like most
about the event?

 
  • Good range of topics, clear presentations by speakers experienced in their field

  • CD ROM and slides

  • Good number of delegates - good for the questions

  • Good location, near underground, pleasant surroundings

  • Good practical advice, quality of presentations and information

  • Clinically orientated, listening to experienced speakers, supported by evidence

  • Good coffee and cakes

  • Well organised course with reasonable breaks (keep one awake) easy to reach tea/coffee/coats

What three things would have made
the day better for you?

  • Better time keeping by the speaker

  • Some slides too busy

  • Better weather for the rail service

  • More practical details

  • Good venue, but sealing too low, difficult to see the screen, uncomfortable chairs and no parking spaces

  • Start delayed by 15 mins, knocked on through rest of first day (although I understand the weather problem)

  • Not enough time for questions

What impact will this event have
on your future?

  • I shall be able to use some of the information in my clinical practice

  • I feel much better informed on issues that I had problem with

  • Several areas for improvement to take back to department

  • Time will tell, but - may need to rethink about various aspect of my practice

  • Course has achieved the objective of updating me on various topics and on day to day patient care

  • Positive impact, encouraged me to find the time to update more
