About the Course

Knowledge and practical skills will be
gained by a mixture of lectures and skills stations.

Covering pathologies on Shoulder, Elbow,
Wrist, Hand, Hip, Knee, Ankle and Foot.

Interactive, focused lectures, with
extensive use of real-life screenshots and video clips: what it looks
like in US, what is normal, what is not normal.

Practical sessions with live demos with
models and, if available, patients.

Web access in advance to lecture slides and
other relevant information.

Good knowledge of Anatomy is assumed.
Course Objectives

Gain an understanding of how ultrasound can
assist in the assessment, diagnosis and intervention of patients with
MSK injuries

Become familiar with the physics of
Ultrasound

Learn how to set up machines and Ultrasound
scanning knobology

Learn how to optimise image quality

Learn to identify key anatomy and
pathologies during lectures (demos on models), with real-life shots
(dual screen setup) and video clips from expert MSK physiotherapists and
radiologists

Practise hands-on US examination of each
joint under the supervision of experts

Practise using a variety of scanners from
different suppliers

A first step towards further MSK US training
Skills Stations
Hands-on ultrasound work at the Stations, facilitated by the Faculty, with
opportunities for attendees to practise on models (and patients if
available) using a variety of widely used ultrasound scanning machines.
