About the Course:

Knowledge and practical skills will be
gained by a mixture of lectures and skills stations.

Covering pathologies on Shoulder, Elbow,
Wrist, Hand, Hip, Knee, Ankle and Foot. Good knowledge of Anatomy is
assumed.

Interactive, focused lectures, with
extensive use of real-life screenshots and video clips: what it
looks like in US, with different views of what is normal, what is
not normal, what can be managed and what needs to be referred.

Practical sessions with live demos with
models and, if available, patients.

Access to weblink with copies of the
lectures and other relevant information to all attendees.

Course objectives:
-
To familiarise with, and
practise on, a variety of scanners from different suppliers; and
learn the different machine settings/adjustment necessary to
optimise image quality for MSK applications.

To gain an understanding
of how ultrasound can assist in the assessment, diagnosis and
intervention of patients with MSK injuries.
-
To learn to identify key
anatomy and pathologies during lectures (demos on models), with
real-life shots (dual screen setup) and video clips from expert MSK
physiotherapists and radiologists.
-
To practise hands-on
ultrasound examination of each joint in groups under the supervision
of experts, on models, at the skills stations.
On the Skills Stations:
Hands-on ultrasound work at the Stations, facilitated by the Faculty,
with opportunities for attendees to practise on models (and patients if
available) using a variety of widely used ultrasound scanning machines. |
