A conference for:
Consultants, Middle Grades, Associates
and Senior Registrars
in Emergency Medicine, Intensive/Critical Care, Anaesthesia,
General
Practice, Acute Medicine, and Senior Nurses
in Emergency Medicine and PHC.
About the Conference:
-
This conference focuses on the most critical
and challenging aspects of Pre-Hospital Care (PHC) and Retrieval in the
UK. Lectures, skills stations and case scenarios will focus on key
areas, looking at the approach to scene and its assessment, primary
survey, resuscitation, securing the airway, rapid sequence intubation,
ventilation, breathing and circulation, practical reviews throughout the
Pre-Hospital phase of care, stabilisation and transport of the
critically unwell adult and child, aero medical decisions, major
incidents, controversies in the Pre-Hospital resuscitation of the
critically ill and injured, etc. This conference is not solely focussed
on trauma.
|
-
The keynote session focuses on recent
developments in the Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM, training and
career progression, how PHEM will link in with trauma centres/systems
locally and nationally, and the contrasts between PHC in and out of
London.
-
The conference contributes to developing
effective team management for doctors from a variety of backgrounds and
actively delivering PHC. All lecturers are actively involved in PHC and
transfer services throughout the UK.
-
As major PHC becomes increasingly a
consultant-led service, with the emphasis on early expert
decision-making, it is imperative that consultants develop their PHC
skills and expertise sooner rather than later.
